Rouge de Vine was crafted in honor of some of the great wines being produced from Spain.
A judicious amount of Petite Sirah was added to give the wine even more international style.
Although this is a big wine, it is not an absolute "fruit bomb." This wine is bone
dry with no residual sugar.
The grapes were picked with an average sugar of 26.8 Brix and left on the skins for four weeks
while being pumped over six times per day. Each of the wine varietals were aged separately for 20 months
in 78% new American oak and 22% new French oak barrels. The wine was then blended and aged for several
additional months and was bottled on July 25, 2008.
Rouge de Vine will be released in either fall 2009 or spring 2010. It is 100% natural with nothing
added except yeast and sulfites. Because of the great natural chemistry of the wine and the use of
characteristically longer-aging varietals, I expect this wine to last 10 to 20 years.
